Located on the south east of the island, don't expect fine golden sands, here the beach is black lava sand. However the beach is ideal for families with young children.

There is an array of restaurants, tavernas, bars & cafes to choose from. Many of the restaurants have sunloungers down on the beach, where for the price of a drink you can idle the day away, they give you access to free wifi too. You will also find the usual mini markets, souvenir shops & a 24 hour bakery.

Perissa has its very own water park, though it was closed when I was in the resort.
Further along the beach towards Perivolos beach is a water sports centre where you can jet ski, parasail, go on a banana boat ride, kayak etc. The water sports centre is opposite the Chilli Bar so you really can't miss it.
Take a walk up the slopes of Mesa Vouna mountain (which separates Piressa from Kamari), where nestled on the rock you will come across the tiny white washed chapel of Panagia Katefiani. I have
been told the views from here are beautiful.

A maze of cobbled & tiled narrow streets filled with an eclectic mix of shops, bars, restaurants & souvenir shops. I spent a leisurely day here exploring.

You can walk, ride a donkey or take the cable car down to the old port. I chose to walk the long winding cobbled path down, soaking up the view as I did.

Oia:
Situated on the north west coast of Santorini is the beautiful village of Oia & is renowned for its beautiful sunsets. Here there is something to discover around every corner of the cobbled & tiled passageways, from designer shops & jewellers to restaurants, bars,
antique & souvenir shops. There really is something for everyone.

Transport:
Car hire for a week in May '18 was cheaper than hiring a quad bike for 3 days.
Buses: Modern & comfortable, however you cannot buy a return ticket, only singles. The central bus station is in Thira, here you change bus for your chosen destination. Ask at the kiosk if you are unsure & they will advise of the time & number of the bus you require.

Whilst visiting this beautiful island why not also visit the town of Kamari (near the airport), or the ancient ruins of Akrotiri?
Airport: Small & chaotic even in May, though it is undergoing expansion, slowly.
